Inspiring Curriculum
The Up With Kids children’s theatre award winning curriculum is always “G-Rated” and family friendly. The activities in which we learn about singing, dancing and acting are age-appropriate, uplifting and inspiring. We celebrate family values! We strive to bring out the best in ourselves and in our students in every aspect of our program!
Imagine six impossible things before breakfast!
Imagine Alice’s bedroom where your favorite Toy Story Friends come to life. She won’t believe her mean old nanny who tells her that’s IMPOSSIBLE, because Woody, Buzz, Bo Peep, and Barbie will help her tap dance her cares away!
Imagine the school where Alice just doesn’t fit in because she has too much... muchness. They think she’s entirely bonkers, and they don’t understand that all the best people are. Run away with Alice to a land full of wonder and mystery. Some say to survive it: you have to be as mad as a hatter!
Imagine a garden where the flowers can talk, that is if they feel you’re worth talking to. Come play with the bread and butterflies, and blow bubbles with the rainbow caterpillars. Curiouser and Curiouser!
Imagine being shrunk, stretched, and stuffed into a tea pot. Don’t be late for your very important date at the Mad Hatter’s tea party. We need you to join us in dancing the Futterwacken.
Imagine a beautiful White Queen banished from her queendom by her naughty big sister, the Red Queen. Having taken a vow never to harm another living thing, she is helpless to fight back and needs a hero.
Imagine a frightening monster called the Jabberwocky. Imagine a shining weapon called the Vorpol Sword. What will happen when Alice brings them together? Can Alice be the champion and restore the wonder to Wonderland? Will everyone live happily ever after, or is this merely a dream? There’s only one way to find out: sign up now and be part of the adventure!
Singing, Dancing, and Acting
This is going to be the most musical "JOURNEY" ever. We will continue to develop our voices with the playful, hands on singing excercises from our Up With Kids! Vocal Method. And you are going to LOVE the songs we’ll be singing! Listel for a lot of your GLEE favorites! The singing flowers will be “Walking on Sunshine”, guests at the tea party will dance the Futterwacken to “Safety Dance”, and we invite the whole audience to join us in our finale: “Don't Stop Believing”.
As always, every one of our talented students will be cast as a unique named character with speaking lines and will shine in the spectacular songs and dances in our show. Join the cast now and help us create an etire queendom full of the zaniest but sweetest characters ever to tumble down a rabbit hole in seach of adventure.
Cultural Learning Experiences
Lewis Carroll, the author of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, practically worshipped nonsense, and we will rise to the challenge. We will be including fabulous cultural learning experiences in this year’s curriculum. Along with the author, we’ll learn about Hans Christian Andersen, who wrote so many of our favorite fairy tales. We’ll be delightfully inspired by poet Shel Silverstein. Our budding cartoonists will identify with the storytelling pictures of artist/illustrator John Tenniel. We’ll continue to learn about classical and contemporary composers, including the brilliant Danny Elfman, Jacques Offenbach, and the Beatles!
Encore
Our encore number, “Imagine,” will feature our entire cast performing our traditional sign language. This powerful musical number will underline the theme of our show: “Imagine the Impossible, and Make Your Dreams Come True”. Welcome to another great ALL-STAR production! UP WITH KIDS!
