All of us at Up With Kids in Utah are excited to welcome our accomplished past performers and our talented new students to our 27th year’s production of “RAPUNZEL, starring… YOU!” Climb up the tower and get “TANGLED” up with us in a magical land of fairy tales where dreams come true!

Inspiring Curriculum

The Up With Kids children’s theatre award winning curriculum is always “G-Rated” and family friendly. The activities in which we learn about singing, dancing and acting are age-appropriate, uplifting and inspiring. We celebrate family values! We strive to bring out the best in ourselves and in our students in every aspect of our program!

Singing, Dancing, and Acting

Have you ever dreamed of being a Musical Theater STAR on stage? Well, this is your year to “Ignite Your Light and Let It Shine!”

You’ll show off your sparkling talent in the Kingdom of Light as the beautiful Princesses and dashing Knights who celebrate their beloved tiny Princess Rapunzel’s birthday with “This Little Light of Mine.” And share your innermost secret feelings with the gang of Viking thugs in “I’ve Got a Dream!”

Your light will shine as one of Rapunzel’s tiny many-colored Chameleon sidekicks acting out life in the tower in “When Will My Life Begin?” And frolic with the precious Faeries and Leprechauns in the forest casting spells on the Witch in “Do You Believe in Magic?”

You’ll put on a brilliant performance as Flynn Rider and the sneaky Gypsies who leap “One Jump Ahead” to steal the crown or Maximus and the fearless Knights on their valiant Steeds who chase the Gypsies through the kingdom. Then amaze the audience with your scary side as Mother Gothel and her evil Cronies sing “Mother Knows Best.”

All of our glittering and talented Superstars will light up our happy ending and take a triumphant bow to “Firework!” and then underscore our inspiring theme with sign language while singing “I See the Light.”

Cultural Learning Experiences

We’re giving this year’s magical extravaganza an Irish flare and melodramatic characters. The hero! The heroine! The villain! The sidekick! The chase! We will continue to develop our singing voices with the playful, hands on singing excercises from our Up With Kids Vocal Method. We’ll practice our acting skills in fun drama games every week and then show them off in our popular performances! As always, every one of our talented students will star as a unique named character with speaking lines and will shine in the spectacular songs and dances in our show.

We will also be including fabulous cultural learning experiences in our year’s phenomenal curriculum. We’ll learn about the Brothers Grimm who collected and recorded for history so many classic fairy tales. It’s going to be fun to get better acquainted with the life of Disney composer Alan Menken and his greatest musical achievements. By popular demand we are including even more fun movement activities with classical music, inluding Grieg’s “Hall of the Mountain King” as the thieves’s sneaking music, Rossini’s “Finale” from the William Tell Overture which will set the mood for our wild chase, and Vivaldi’s “Spring” as the background for our faeries and leprechans in the forest. And just for “kicks”, we’ll be learning a traditional Irish Folk Dance- “The Walls of Limerick!”
